The North Irish and American stars are not the only two big names in the six million dollar Barclays Singapore Open. They’ll be playing against the likes of other Major winners like South Korea’s Y.E. Yang and the Irish man, Padraig Harrington. Colombian golfer Camilo Villegas and also Anthony Kim are two golfers who are making their debut appearances in Singapore.

This Singapore National Open is quite an old tournament now and the winner of the tournament is guaranteed to take home more than one million dollars. Almost two hundred players will be facing one another on the two courses, namely the Tanjong and the Serapong of this Singapore Open.

Of the main contenders, Phil Mickelson has failed to finish higher than nineth in this six million dollar tournament while McDowell, the champion of the US open has managed to tie third. Y.E Yang shot up to new heights after he became the first person from an Asian country to win the PGA Championship. The Irish man, Padraig Harrington has three Majors titles and is hence a serious contender. The latest online golf odds place Phil Mickelson as favourite, just ahead of Graeme McDowell.

In the 2010 Open, Adam Scott won with a three stroke victory, to complete a hat-trick of wins in Singapore. Phil Mickelson who is number ten will definitely be aiming at leaving his mark in this multi million dollar tournament.

Although Paul Casey has managed to make quite a decent performance in the year 2011 by emerging victorious in two tournaments worldwide, his performance had deteriorated due to his sore foot. The major problem was due to the fact that this was diagnosed months after it started and hence had to be taken proper care or else it would have turned worse. He says that the problem in his foot did not allow him to move properly which affected his game play quite considerably.

Paul Casey has battled himself through these health problems and is quite sure that he does not want this series of events to repeat it. The foot problems led him to start a number of bad habits which in turn led to erratic golf play. Casey has made tremendous effort to bring back the weight on his toes and get back into the game. He managed to reach his highest ranking position to a third position in the year 2009. He also needs to learn the art of swinging rather than using his hands while turning the ball.
